PERSONS ENTITLED TO TRAVEL FREE OF CHARGE CERTIFICATE TO BE SHOWN
Children under the age of 6 or till the beginning of their studies if accompanied by an adult Any personal identifying document
Citizens of Hungary or other EU, EEA Member States or Switzerland aged 65+ Identity card or any other personal identifying document
Foreign citizens aged 65+ who get pension from the Hungarian Pension Fund Certification of the Pension Fund and any other personal identifying document
Foreign citizens with Hungarian nationality aged 65+ and their relatives aged 65+ upon Act LXII/2001 Personal "Hungarian certificate", or "Hungarian dependent certificate"
Foreign citizens aged 65+ on the basis of a special international agreement Identity card or any other personal identifying document
Refugees 65+ Any personal identifying document and any document certifying the legal status
Blind An official certificate issued by the Hungarian State Treasury and a document proving the identity, OR a Certificate on the allowance for the blind or the certificate with a photo of the Hungarian Federation for the Blind and Partially Sighted
The deaf and hard of hearing The certificate with a photo of the Hungarian Association of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Children who get higher family allowance and severely disabled  persons according to Act  XXVI of 1998 The Certificate of the Hungarian Treasury on higher family allowance or allowance of disabled persons
One attendant of the listed persons in the previous 3 points (the blind, deaf and disabled, or persons getting higher family allowance) Certification on the right of the accompanied person. The accompanying person does not need a document.  ATTENDANTS are entitled to travel free of charge only together with the disabled person!
Disabled soldiers and war widows Certificate of Disabled Soldiers  and War Widows and ID
Guardian of the disabled soldier The Certificate of Disabled Soldiers states the necessity of a guardian on the professional opinion of the medical expert
Family member of  a disabled soldier, with at least 75 per cent disability (living  together in one household, spouse, children) ID and a verifying document on the right to use Public Transport free of charge

PERSONS ENTITLED TO PENSIONER'S PASS
CERTIFICATE TO BE SHOWN
Persons under the age of 65 who receive pension in their own right and persons belonging to this legal category (Act LXXX/1997 Article 4.f.), persons receiving allowance for their incapability of work, higher allowance for their incapability of work, or higher old-age pension. Certificate (e.g. pensioners' travel voucher) issued by the pension fund or the institution paying the allowance  and ID card

Guardians and persons under guardianship, wards and persons under wardship irrespective of their age can share travel vouchers marked 'GY', 'GYÁM' or 'GO', thus guardians and persons under the care of a guardian both can use pensioner's pass certificates (photocards).

Persons receiving a relative pension (widow's pension, orphan's allowance, parent's pension, pension of a relative of a person killed in accident
Persons receiving widow's allowance, or increased amount of widow's allowance
Persons receiving regular social allowance
Persons receiving temporary social allowance
Persons receiving disability allowance, IF HE/SHE HAS a pensioners travel voucher
Persons receiving a national care fee or national moral courage contribution
Repatriated persons receiving pension from abroad
Clerical persons receiving pension-support
Guardians and persons under guardianship, wards and persons under wardship
Spouse (partner) of the persons listed above - with the exception of the guardians and persons under the care of a guardian -  if he/she is above  the age limit of the old-age pension Pensioner pass certificate is issued by showing the Pensioner's  or disabled person's certificate  and ID card of the spouse (partner).
Persons receiving regular social allowance or availability allowance, wage replacement allowance if unemployed
Certificate from the notary
Persons receiving disability allowance, IF HE/SHE HAS NOT a pensioners travel voucher Certificate from the notary, according to residence

PERSONS ENTITLED TO STUDENT PASS CERTIFICATE TO BE SHOWN
Schoolchildren and students attending regular or evening courses Valid permanent or temporary student card, or a certificate pursuant to Government Decree 362/2011 (XII. 30.)
Temporary student cards can be used until 29 February 2012.
Phd cards can be used until 31 March 2012

Foreign citizens of Hungarian nationality studying in Hungary in regular or evening courses upon Act LXII/2001 A validating sticker in the Annex of  "Hungarian certificate", or "Hungarian dependent certificate"
Schoolchildren and students from EU, EEA Member States or Switzerland attending regular or evening courses in these states
  • student card issued in the given state, OR
  • international student card, OR
  • in case of schoolchildren under 16 from abroad: passport or ID card

If you want to prove your status as a student of a school in Hungary, only the Hungarian student card is acceptable.

Temporary student cards can be used until 29 February 2012.
Phd cards can be used until 31 March 2012


PERSONS ENTITLED TO PASS FOR PARENTS WITH SMALL CHILDREN
CERTIFICATE TO BE SHOWN
Persons with address in Budapest who receive child home care allowance (GYES, GYET, GYED or TGYÁS) Official certificate on permanent or temporary residence and an original copy of the certification or decision of the right to child care allowance issued by the social insurance disbursement agency, which is not older than 6 months
