On 21 February 2025, after 7 a.m., we experienced a strong, pungent odour at the Széll Kálmán tér station of metro line M2, which could later be perceived along the entire line due to the airflow.

According to the measurements, there is no gas in the air that is hazardous to health, and the gas concentration does not exceed the threshold limits anywhere. BKV does not have gas-powered equipment on the M2 line, therefore, our colleagues are investigating the cause of the unpleasant smell together with the gas company specialists.

We are continuously measuring the air quality, and the metro continues to operate safely.
