What can you do if you lost something on one of the BKV’s vehicles?

First of all, you should write an email to lostitem@bkv.hu, in which you describe the lost object with the greatest precision – on what transport line you lost that, at what time, how does it look like, etc.

For instance: I lost my rain jacket on the trolley line 74 on 14th of July 2023, Friday, around 1 pm. It is pink with green frogs on it.
Then you would have to wait a couple of days, since it takes some time while the object is transported into our handling office, where we need to process data as well. We would like to be exactly informed before replying to any emails.

If you receive our email with an answer your beloved object is in our office, you or your legally authorized representative can come to take it. After you identified yourself via ID, passport or driving licence, and described the searched item, with a handling fee (a present day prepurchased ticket’s cost) you will receive your item. You can only pay by cash.

Please notice that you have to describe the searched object with the greatest precision.

About identification: we can only accept an official paper with photo. If you do not possess such a paper (for example you lost it) we can only accept your birth certificate. We are not authorized to identify you by your left ID or passport.

Dear Customers, we kindly ask you to come to our central Lost and Found office during opening hours. We are unable to serve our passengers beyond the opening hours.

How to get your lost property:
 
We have to determine the ownership in any case. Please give us the following:
•  Date, time and place of your loss.
•  Description of the property, e.g. its outlook (colour, size, brand logo, etc.). In case of doubt, it may be necessary to reveal unique attributes or identifying features which is known only by the owner
In order to get your loss property you have to:
•  present an official paper with photo which proves your identity (personal ID card; or ID card and certificate of domicile together; passport, student ID, driving license),
•  pay a single handling fee (which equals the actual price of a pre-purchased single ticket). Please be aware, that we can accept only cash.
•  If the owner is unable to attend, an authorised person with a written authorisation can collect the property.
 
In case of minors, they parent(s) or guardian can receive the documents or other objects of the child without authorisation but the family relationship, parentage must be proved.
