BKV won the title of "Energy Conscious Company" for the seventh time in the Energy Efficiency Excellence Competition launched by the Virtual Power Plant Program. Thanks to the energy saving measures applied in the winter of 2022 and the summer of 2023, the company achieved a total of HUF 2.4 billion (ca. 6 215 250 EUR) in cost savings.

BKV Zrt., as the capital city's largest transport service provider company attained a reduction of almost 35,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year with its energy efficiency improvements implemented in recent years. Due to the renewing vehicle fleet, two-thirds of BKV trips are made with vehicles powered by electric energy. In the case of underground railways and trams, it is also possible to increase energy efficiency by using regenerative power, and the energy efficiency of the vehicle sites is constantly improving as well.
