BKV once again won the Energy Efficient Company award in 2025, contributing 887.96 kW to the construction of the Virtual Power Plant
Thanks to its successful project, BKV won the "Energy Efficient Company" award in 2025 with its application titled "Electricity regeneration into the power supply system of BKV Zrt.’s North-South (M3) metro line". The award was presented at the 15th Parliamentary Award Ceremony of the Virtual Power Plant Program (VEP) in autumn 2025 and was received by Mr. Mátyás Jangel, Head of the BKV Cabinet Office.
BKV Zrt. has been paying special attention to energy savings, energy efficiency, and environmental protection for many years, and has implemented numerous measures and developments over the past decade to support these goals. The company has played and continues to play a key role in achieving the goals set by the Virtual Power Plant Program (VEP). Its aim to contribute as much as possible to the "construction" of a virtual power plant through significant energy savings. The initiative focuses on collecting best practices based on energy efficiency and renewable energy as well as generating and implementing projects that help rationalize energy needs.
Our company joined the program in 2014, and as a result, was awarded the title of "Energy-Conscious Company" that same year, which we later managed to retain in 2017, 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2023. In 2016, thanks to the success of the project involving the M2 metro line, we were also honored with the "Energy Efficient Company" award.
We applied for the 2024/2025 Energy Efficient Company award with a project entitled "Electricity regeneration into the power supply system of BKV Zrt’s North-South (M3) metro line". The application answers the question of which energy-saving solutions can be applied to the metro's electrical consumer equipment. As a result of the procedures presented in the project and the reconstruction of the M3 line, a total of 8879.69 MWh electricity savings was achieved.
We are proud that, as a result of more than a decade of dedicated work and in recognition of our new goals, we were once again received the Energy Efficient Company award by the Professional Jury of the Energy Efficiency Excellence Competition Advisory Board at the 15th VEP 2025 Autumn Awards Ceremony at the Hungarian Parliament.
