BKV bids farewell to line 74A with a retro trolleybus
From 21 June 2025, trolleybus 81 will operate on a longer route between Örs vezér tere and Mexikói út, while line 74A will be in operation for the last time on 20 June. For the last day, BKV is preparing a little retrospect to the past - an old ZIU-9B trolleybus will also be put into the traffic on that day as a heritage service. The vehicle will run according to schedule and can be used with a regular ticket or a pass.
The Budapest trolleybus network is continuing to expand and evolve, and so do the travel options and services. From 21 June 2025, trolleybus 81 will serve an extended route between Örs vezér tere and Mexikói út. Accordingly, line 74A will operate for the last time on 20 June.
Line 74A was launched in 1987, and for 38 years, trolleybuses have run on it in an almost unchanged form between Csáktornya Park and Mexikói út. On 20 June – the last day of the line – BKV will bid farewell to the service No. 74A with a ZIU-9B type retro vehicle.
The retro trolleybus will operate according to schedule and can be used at a normal fare. It will leave the Csáktornya Park terminus at 4:38 a.m., and its last evening service will depart from Mexikói út at 7:50 p.m. The ZIU-9B is expected to arrive at the Csáktornya Park terminus at 8:00 p.m., where BKV will provide a fifteen-minute photo opportunity for fans and those interested.
BKV requests those interested to be considerate of each other during the trip and the photography session, and to comply with traffic and travel rules and regulations.
