Chairlift Night
The nighttime chairlift ride will take place again this year
The 11th Night of the Chairlifts will be held on July 11, 2026
While the chairlift is normally available only during operating hours on other days of the year, it is open after closing time—especially at night—only on this one day. This year also brings a new feature: for the first time, you can attend the event with an online ticket.
After sunset—expected at 8:39 p.m.—the panorama reveals a new side of the city; even the illuminated Parliament building can be clearly seen in the distance before midnight. Live music will entertain passengers at the valley station, and the mountain station the snack bar will be open to our passengers throughout the event.
Event dates: Saturday, July 11, 2026, 7:00 p.m. – Sunday, July 12, 2026, 1:00 a.m.
You can travel from the valley station to the mountain station until 00:30 a.m.; from the mountain station you can ride down with the chairlift until 01:00 a.m. Boarding is on a first-come, first-served basis

Using the Chairlift
The chairs of the cableway remain in motion during boarding and getting off, therefore the chairlift may only be used at one’s own responsibility. The accompanying adult is responsible for the safety of children under the age of 10. After boarding, passengers must fully lower the safety bar of the chair and keep it lowered throughout the journey. (Proper use can be practiced with the demonstration chair located in the covered outdoor area of the Zugliget valley station.) Before disembarking, passengers must raise the safety bar themselves.
Entering technical areas closed to the public is strictly prohibited. To ensure compliance, passengers must disembark at both stations and rejoin the queue at the boarding point for the return journey.
Carriage of hand luggage, strollers, children’s bicycles and pets
Every passenger holding a valid ticket may carry one piece of hand luggage free of charge, with maximum dimensions of 40 × 50 × 60 centimetres and a maximum weight of 10 kilograms, respectively, one pair of skis and ski poles. A stroller may be carried as hand luggage only in a folded state, and only by an adult passenger.
A children’s bicycle not exceeding the size of hand luggage may be transported as hand luggage by a passenger aged 10 or above. Hand luggage or other items (e.g. bicycles) exceeding the above size, weight, or quantity limits may not be transported, even for an additional fee. Lack of appropriate conditions for safe travel may result in refusal of both luggage transport and the journey itself.
Live animals (e.g. small dogs) may only be transported on the cableway chairs by an adult passenger holding a valid ticket, in a closed carrier not exceeding the size of hand luggage (40 × 50 × 60 cm). The passenger transporting the animal is responsible for its safety and must ensure that the animal cannot escape under any circumstances during the journey. Any deviation from this rule is strictly prohibited.
At the Stations of Zugliget Chairlift it is forbidden to:
- remain on the premises outside opening hours;
- carry out any commercial activity without authorization;
- post, remove or display any notices or advertisements;
- disturb others through noise or any other activity;
- behave in a scandalous or otherwise offensive manner;
- stay in the boarding area without a valid chairlift ticket.
During the ride, it is forbidden to:
- smoke;
- eat or drink;
- raise the safety bar of the chair;
- stand up on the chair or its footrest, or lean too far forward;
- swing or rock the chair;
- drop litter or any objects from the chair, or damage the cableway or its equipment
The following persons are not permitted to ride:
- anyone who cannot present a valid ticket at boarding;
- anyone behaving in a scandalous and/or offensive manner;
- children under 10 years of age without an accompanying adult holding a valid ticket;
- persons with severely limited mobility, or those who are intoxicated or under the influence of drugs;
- anyone carrying objects that do not qualify as hand luggage;
- anyone whose hand luggage is deemed unsuitable for transport by the Chairlift operators;
- anyone attempting to board with ice cream, gelato, drinks in open cups or unsealed containers, etc.
For your safety, please comply with the Terms and Conditions of Travelling and follow the instructions given by the Chairlift staff. Passengers who violate these conditions may, in extreme cases, be refused travel. Any act of damage will always result in official proceedings. BKV Zrt. accepts no liability for the consequences of such actions.
