Danube cruiser boat service

The Danube boat service of BKV is part of the public transport network and enables you to admire the beauties of Budapest on a route that is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. After passing by along the Margaret Island, you will see the building of the Hungarian Parliament. Two hills of the capital city"s also offer you various and out of the common sights: The Castle Hill accommodates the Royal Palace, the Matthias Church and the Fisherman"s Bastion. Looking at the Gellért Hill you can get a great view of the Liberation Monument and the Citadel. You can have an overview of the capital city"s bridges throughout your journey. You will pass by some of the most famous universities of Budapest, the Market Hall, the Redoute, the Danube promenade and many luxury hotels of the Hungarian capital city. The boats are available free of extra charge on working days if you are a BKK pass holder. BKK single tickets are not valid on the boats. Cable ferry

A unique, environmentally friendly way of transport is the cable ferry, located in the southern part of Budapest. It is also a part of the public transport network – denoted as line D14 – so if you are looking for something that is unknown even for local residents, and if you have a BKK pass, you can try it out anytime. Cogwheel railway

The Cogwheel Railway is one of the main sights of the mountain landscape of Buda and it also evokes fond old memories, as the line was opened in 1874. It runs all year round fully integrated in the public transport system as tramline number 60. You can use it by validating a single ticket, or with a pass. Its lower terminus is situated at Városmajor, only two tram stops away from the main hub of Buda, Széll Kálmán tér (former Moszkva tér). The Cogwheel Railway’s upper terminus is on the Széchenyi Hill, at a walking distance from Normafa, the meeting point of a number of hikers" routes of the surrounding mountains. Even closer to the terminus you can find the Children’s Railway, which will take you even deeper into the Buda forest. Also, if you take the Children’s Railway from Széchenyihegy to Jánoshegy, after a 20 minute walk, you can reach the Chairlift.  You can even transport bicycles by validating a further single ticket or in possession of a bikers" sticker attached to a pass. Chairlift

Travelling by Chairlift brings rewards. Besides a special travel experience, you can enjoy the finest panorama of Budapest from the Erzsébet lookout tower, which is at a walking distance from the upper terminus of the Chairlift. While descending from the forested mountaintop of János Hill into the city, you can enjoy the magnificent panorama again. The lower terminus is in Zugligeti út where you can change to the bus No. 291 running to the Nyugati railway station. The Chairlift is operating all year round, but essential maintenance is carried out every Monday on even weeks, except for public holidays. The Chairlift is open from 10 AM until 15:30 or 19:00 depending on the time of year.


Funicular

On the 95 metres long track with an ascent of 48 %, the trip is speedy and spectacular. Two carriages operate on the line, named Gellért and Margit. These carriages are built in a stepwise construction and have classic wooden bodywork. Gellért and Margit carry the passengers from the Clark Ádám tér to the Castle’s main square, just in front of the President"s Office (Sándor-palace). Since 1987 the line has been featured on the UNESCO World Heritage list. From the upper terminus you can enjoy the breath-taking panorama of the Chain Bridge, the House of the Hungarian Parliament and the Danube river. The Funicular operates throughout the year daily from 7:30 to 21:50. The Funicular is closed from scheduled maintenance every Monday on odd weeks during the period of the works, unless these Mondays are on public holidays..

 

 

 

Little sightseeing tour

Wandering around the City Park (Városliget) has never been easier. Take our small red-white coloured three coach microbus – the only service to go inside the park! A relaxing 20-25 minute tour will show you around the Vajdahunyad Castle, the Széchenyi Thermal Bath, the building of the Zoo – among other sites. The Little sightseeing tour is available only on weekends and national holidays from spring to late autumn. The first tour starts at 10:30, the last leaves at 17:00 or 17:30 depending on the time of the year. The departure and arrival point is in front of the Műcsarnok (Kunsthalle), H-1146 Budapest, Dózsa György út 37. If you are facing the statue on Heroes square (Hősök tere) the Kunsthalle is the building to your right.
