Pass certificates
Ticket offices of BKV Zrt issue pass certificates upon the effective regulation passed by the General Assembly of Budapest Municipality (Regulation No. 76/2008 (XII.30)) and upon the effective Government Regulation on the preference provision (No. 85/2007. (IV.25.))
For obtaining pass certificates a photo is needed, which is not older than one year, has a plain background - has not been used for other purposes yet -, in a size of 3,5 x 4,5 cm, in good quality, it can also be a digital photo printed on photo paper. The picture must not feature other individual(s) or object(s).
General pass certificates
General pass certificates are valid for 10 years. In case the pass certificate has been damaged to such an extent that it cannot be used any more, because its owner cannot be identified and/or its validity cannot be confirmed, the owner needs to obtain a new pass certificate.
Reduced Price Annual Budapest Pass
Valid on the routes of BKV Zrt on trams, trolleybuses, underground, and metro, cogwheel railway on the whole length of the lines, on HÉV suburban railway within the administrative boundaries of Budapest, and on buses to the first stop outside the administrative boundaries of Budapest, on certain trains of MÁV Hungarian Railways and on certain conurbation bus lines of VOLÁNBUSZ within the boundaries of Budapest.
The block contains 12 monthly pass coupons. The monthly pass coupon is valid from 0000 on the 1st day of the given month to 2400 of the last day of the given month with the exception of December as it is valid till 2400 on 5th January of the following year. The block cannot be returned even before the starting day of its validity. Before starting the first trip in each month the number of the valid pass certificate or VOLÁNBUSZ - BKSZ pass certificate has to be written in the empty box of the coupon eligibly in ink, without correction. The pass coupon is valid only together with one of the above mentioned certificates. The validated pass coupon is not transferable. *The passenger's right has to be proved by a medical certificate issued according to Annex 2 or 3 of Government Decree No. 164/1995. (XII. 7.). The qualification has to reach 7 points and permanent disability has to be stated.
Budapest Monthly Pass for parents with small children
It can be purchased with any starting day. It is valid from 0000 on the indicated day to 2400 on the previous day of the next month on trams, trolleybuses, underground, and metro, cogwheel railway on the whole length of the lines, on HÉV suburban railways within the administrative boundaries of Budapest, and on buses to the first stop outside the administrative boundaries of Budapest, on certain trains of MÁV Hungarian Railways and on certain conurbation bus lines of VOLÁNBUSZ within the boundaries of Budapest.
This pass can be used by parents with small children* and it is valid only together with a parent's pass certificate. Before starting the first trip the number of the valid parent's pass certificate has to be written in the empty box of the coupon eligibly in ink, without correction. The pass coupon is valid only together with parent's pass certificate. The validated pass is not transferable. Two Weeks Budapest Pass
It can be purchased with any starting day. It is valid for 14 days, i.e. from 0000 on the indicated day to 2400 on the 14th day on trams, trolleybuses, underground, and metro, cogwheel railway on the whole length of the lines, on HÉV suburban railways within the administrative boundaries of Budapest, and on buses to the first stop outside the administrative boundaries of Budapest, on certain trains of MÁV Hungarian Railways and on certain conurbation bus lines of VOLÁNBUSZ within the boundaries of Budapest.

You cannot buy this type of monthly pass for Törökbálint. This pass can be used by students of regular and evening courses for travelling between the dwelling place and the educational institution. It can be used only together with a valid student card.

The pass coupon is valid only together with the pass certificate. HÉV (Suburban Railway) passes with 90 per cent price reduction(5,10,15,20,25,30 km)
It can be purchased with any starting day and it is valid for one month, from 0000 on the marked day to 2400 on the previous day of the next month between the indicated stations on HÉV lines outside the administrative boundaries of Budapest. This pass can be used by students of regular and evening courses for travelling between the dwelling place and the school or by severely handicapped people according to the legal regulations concerning the handicapped.

TICKETS
In case of One-day travel cards, 3-day travel cards and Family tickets the date (month,day), the time (hour, minute) or in case of pre-purchased tickets the date and time required by the customer has to be written and it is valid for 24, 48 or 72 hours. Family tickets can be used by foreign visitors as well, keeping the further conditions, such as age limit and number of the family. Foreign schoolchildren can certify that they are between 6 and 14 by student card or passport.
One-day travel card
Valid for 24 hours from the indicated date and time (month, day, hour, minute) for an unlimited number of trips on buses, trams, trolleybuses, on metro, underground, cogwheel-railway on the whole length of the line but on suburban railway (HÉV) only within the administrative boundaries of Budapest. You can buy it in advance. It is not returnable after the beginning of validity. The travel card has to be presented for controller's request.
Three-day travel card
Valid for 72 hours from the indicated date and time (month, day, hour, minute) for an unlimited number of trips on buses, trams, trolleybuses, on metro, underground, cogwheel-railway on the whole length of the line but on suburban railway (HÉV) only within the administrative boundaries of Budapest. You can buy it in advance. It is not returnable after the beginning of validity. The travel card has to be presented for controller's request.
Seven-day travel card
Valid on the indicated 7 days between 00.00-24.00 for an unlimited number of trips on buses, trams, trolleybuses, on metro, underground, cogwheel-railway on the whole length of the line but on suburban railway (HÉV) only within the administrative boundaries of Budapest. It is issued to the name of the holder and is not transferable. The name of the holder has to be written on it in ink in capital letters before starting the first trip. It is not returnable after beginning of validity. It has to be presented for controller's request together with an identifying document with photo (ID card, passport or driving licence).
Family ticket
Valid for an unlimited number of trips for 48 hours from the indicated date and time (month, day, hour, minute) on buses, trams, metro, underground, trolleybuses, cogwheel-railway and within the administrative boundaries of Budapest on suburban railway (HÉV). It can be used by 1 or 2 adults (18+) travelling together in the same carriage with at least 1 but up 7 children between the ages of 6 and 14. Children have to possess valid student card or passport. It can be purchased in advance. It is not returnable after the beginning of validity. The ticket has to be presented for the controller's request.
From 1 January 2009 all the ticket types are valid on the night service vehicles as well, which run under route numbers 900, so the exclusive usage of the 'Single Ticket Bought on the Spot' for the night service terminates. Single tickets, single tickets bought on the spot and the single tickets of the 10 piece discount coupon book will be valid for 90 minutes on the night service vehicles instead of 60 minutes. There will be no change in the usage of the conurbation single tickets as the journey-times do not give grounds for it.
Single tickets, transfer tickets and the single tickets of the 10 piece discount coupon books can be used on the metro for 60 minutes, so you do not have to validate a new ticket when changing metro lines, including the Millennium Underground, too.
Tickets purchased earlier, on which there is a note on their reverse side that 'It is not valid on the night service' have to be accepted for journeys on the night service vehicles.

Transfer ticket
It is valid for one trip with one change on buses, trams, metro, Millennium Underground, trolleybuses, cog-wheel railway on the whole length of the lines and within the administrative boundaries of Budapest on suburban railway (HÉV). It is valid on the night service as well. Besides change it does not entitle you for interruption of the trip or for return trip. The ticket has to be validated twice when you start your trip at one end and when you change at the other end, with the exception of change between metro lines (metro lines 1, 2 or 3). When validated with stamping machine it is valid for 90 minutes, within this for 60 minutes after second validation. If the second validation takes place at the entrance of a metro station, it is valid for another 60 minutes even if the whole trip exceeds 90 minutes. When the second validation takes place on the night service it is valid for additional 90 minutes. You have to present it for controller's request.
Short section metro ticket
It is valid on the metro (lines 1, 2 or 3) for one short trip up to 3 stops for 30 minutes after validation. It does not entitle you for interruption of the trip or for a return trip. Within the time of validity you can change lines within the metro network (metro lines 1, 2 or 3), but it is valid only for 3 stops altogether. It has to be presented for controller's request.
The prices of the conurbation tickets do not change. From the 1st January 2009 cashiers have to inform our passengers that all the conurbation tickets - 5 km and 10 km full price tickets and 50 or 90 per cent discount price conurbation tickets - are valid on the conurbation night service vehicles as well.

From 1st January 2009 HÉV (suburban railway) tickets can be bought in advance, too, they have the size of a single ticket, and type of pass coupon. You can return HÉV tickets only before their validity and only if their price exceeds the handling charge. The HÉV ticket with the same price as a single ticket terminates, instead of it you can use single tickets with date stamped on the reverse side by the HÉV ticket offices. The stamped tickets can be used only on HÉV (suburban railway), on the day stamped on it. In case of buying a return ticket the day of issue will be stamped on both tickets but only one of the tickets will be valid for another 3 days.

Another new ticket type is the reduced price group ticket for pupils. This ticket type can be bought only by schools. The reduced price group ticket for pupils can be obtained at our certain cashier's offices after sending us a filled form which can be downloaded from the website of BKV Zrt. The ticket is divided into 3 parts the first part belongs to the customer.
Monthly bicycle pass sticker
The monthly bicycle pass sticker entitles you to transport your bicycle only on vehicles of BKV Zrt which have a bicycle sign on them (on HÉV and cog-wheel railway ) on the whole length of the line. You can buy a bicycle pass in the form stickers to your annual, quarterly, monthly pass, and HÉV passes (full or reduced price). Bicycle pass stickers are valid for a month so 3 stickers can be bought to a quarterly pass, and if you buy the bicycle pass one or two months later, you have to buy 2 or 1 stickers. An already started month is considered to be a whole month even if there are only a couple of days till the month's end. The validity of a bicycle pass sticker bought afterwards expires with the pass.
To reduced price annual passes you can buy one bicycle sticker per month which has to be stuck on the pass coupon of the given month. Its validity in time corresponds to the validity of the pass coupon it is stuck on. The bicycle pass sticker cannot be returned in itself. If the pass coupon it is stuck on satisfies the conditions of returning, the bicycle pass sticker can be returned as well. In this case the handling charge has to be paid only once irrespective the number of the bicycle pass stickers. At the same time, the handling charge according to the type of the pass coupon also has to be paid.
The stickers have serial numbers on them and their distribution fall under strict supervision.
Budapest Card 48 hours
Budapest Card can be used by an adult and a child up to 14 years travelling together. It is for personal use and it is not transferable. The card is valid for 48 hours following the time and date stamped on it. It can be used for travelling within the administrative boundaries of Budapest.
Budapest Card 72 hours
Budapest Card can be used by an adult and a child up to 14 years travelling together. It is for personal use and it is not transferable. The card is valid for 72 hours following the time and date stamped on it. It can be used for travelling within the administrative boundaries of Budapest.
Basic condition of use is that both cards the starting time and date and the signature of the tourist has to be written on it. A colourful flyer with information in four languages and a booklet about the insurance conditions are enclosed to the card.
